Checkout Sales Assistant

The Moriarty Group is an Irish owned company, involved in both the retail grocery and hotel industries.  The company owns three large Super Valu Stores in Balbriggan, Skerries and Palmerstown and two 4* hotels, the Courtyard Hotel, Leixlip, Co. Kildare and the Bracken Court Hotel, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin.  The company currently employees 550 staff.


The Moriarty Group of Super Valu's are 3 of the largest Super Valu stores in the Dublin area.  We are currently seeking to recruit a Checkout Sales Assistants for our busy Palmerstown store.

The Role:


This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week to include weekends and public holidays.


Main Duties:


  • Provide service excellence to our customers at all times.
  • Operating a busy checkout unit/general till duties.
  • Looking after customer queries.
  • Managing Customer queues
  • Bag packing.
  • Merchandising.
  • Home deliveries – preparing for delivery drover.
  • HACCP Duties.
  • Assisting in all areas of the store if and when needed.








  • Previous experience working as a Checkout Sales Assistant in a busy grocery retail environment would be desirable but is not essential as full training can be given.
  • Must be fluent in the English Language both written and spoken.
  • Must be enthusiastic and a quick learner.
  • Must be able to multi-task and be willing to help out where required in all areas of the store.
  • Must have excellent customer care skills.
  • Must have excellent communications skills.
  • Must have excellent people skills.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Must be available for midweek day shifts, early starts and late finishes.
