Our Communities

Integrating business interests with those of the local community is a long-term successful policy which has seen the Moriarty Group businesses prosper. Founder Luke Moriarty is committed to reinvesting in local communities, both as a means to acknowledge and encourage customer support and as part of an ethos which sees clear business benefits in operating in a vibrant, well-resourced local community. Sporting, social and charitable sponsorships and donations are regularly and generously funded by the company, which has strong links to the national Tidy Towns environmental competition, as well as to the Gaelic Athletic Association, and local rugby and football clubs in north and west Dublin and Kildare. Practical community initiative is also undertaken, including major projects such as the joint-venture development of Balbriggan Town Centre with Fingal County Council and the build and fit-out of a community centre, provided free of charge in Palmerstown.

Our Values

The Moriarty Group team fully embraces the core principles established by our founder Luke Moriarty. These principles guide everything we do across our SuperValu stores and hotels.

Personal

In all our properties, we employ people from our local areas who are open, friendly, and always willing to assist. Our people are there to ensure customers have the best possible experience every day.

Inspiring

Our team of local experts are always on hand to help and guide - whether it is a recipe idea, a food recommendation, or making a family occasion extra special. We add inspirational touches to make the everyday extraordinary.

Passionate

Our teams strive to ensure the best customer experience always. Pride in our work, and the satisfaction that every customer feels welcomed and appreciated, drives everything we do.

Local

We buy locally, employ locally, and invest in community organisations and projects that support our areas. We actively support Tidy Towns, GAA, rugby, soccer, cricket, and basketball clubs across our communities.

Committed

We are committed to quality in every part of the business - safety, standards, and customer experience. We regularly train and re-train staff to ensure the highest possible levels across all areas.

Innovative

We seek out new experiences to excite our customers. From our in-house Moriarty's Fresh range to our hotel events programmes, innovation is at the heart of what we do.

Moriarty Group Mission Statement

The Moriarty Group strives to attain industry-leading standards in all aspects of its business, and in all dealings with customers, employees, suppliers, and business associates. Constant reinvestment in customer service, facilities, and employee welfare is a key principle - as is purchasing locally and investing in the communities in which we operate.

Hotel Mission

The Moriarty Group Hotels business is dedicated to providing guests with the highest quality service and standards. We deliver on our promise of value and quality across dining, accommodation, meetings, and events. We value our place in the community and work to develop local relationships, protect our environment, and support the development of our people.

Retail Mission

The Moriarty Group strives to meet customers' needs around quality and value in all our stores, providing extensive and convenient local shopping facilities. We provide 'the Super with the Valu' for all our customers daily, with very close connections to our local communities through sponsorship of local clubs and events.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The Moriarty Group is dedicated to fostering economic and social development in the communities where we are located. Commitment to the community distinguishes us from others, and we have earned a reputation as a company that is dedicated to making a real difference.

Our CSR approach covers three key areas:

Community - We sponsor, support, and fundraise for local needs across all our locations, growing and developing relationships that benefit the communities we serve.

Environment - We recognise that our activities can impact the environment and take a proactive approach to minimising those impacts wherever possible.

People - We are committed to providing a safe environment for our employees, customers, and guests, with optimal health and safety procedures in place at all times.

Sponsorship & Community Involvement

The Moriarty Group actively sponsors over 15 different sporting clubs and countless local events throughout the year. Luke Moriarty has always been a very active member of all the communities his businesses are located in.

Tidy Towns

The Moriarty Group is an active supporter of the national Tidy Towns initiative. We support committees in Balbriggan, Skerries, Palmerstown, and Leixlip to ensure community environments are as clean, tidy, and welcoming as possible. We are proud supporters of Skerries Tidy Towns, who won Ireland's overall tidiest town title in 2016.

GAA

The Moriarty Group has been a long-time supporter and sponsor of local GAA clubs across all of our communities. Notable involvement includes:

Skerries Harps GAA - main sponsor for the opening of their new club house in 2015

Saint Columba's GAA - provided jerseys when Leixlip GAA and Confey GAA unified in 2016

SuperValu #BehindTheBall - Luke Moriarty filmed as part of the national campaign that donated 55,000 footballs to clubs across Ireland

The GAA's focus on community, sport, fitness, and developing young people aligns closely with the values of the Moriarty Group.
